Ummm, Yea, So I Wore a Crop Top!

This skirt is nothing new you've seen it before on the blog here, here and here, but I'm always looking for ways to rework items in my closet without going shopping because y'all know I'm cheap frugal...well thrifty. HAHA! If I can't think of at least three ways to wear something I usually don't buy it, it's just my rule when updating my closet. I bought this skirt in 2011 from Wetseal for about $20 and although it's a trendier piece I've gotten much wear from it, I think for two reasons, it's a pencil skirt which is timeless and it's a stretchy knit material that will hold its shape over time. This time around I paired it with a crop top that I found at Rainbow while in New York for FFFWeek, although it was a spur of the moment buy, I've wanted to try a crop top but never thought I could pull it off. I think the trick for me was not showing any skin in the midriff area. You definitely have to know your body even when you're taking fashion risks!

Style Tip: When buying trendier items think long term. Will the item hold up after a few wears? Will you be able to wear it from season to season and lastly, can it be styled at least three times?

Oh, yeah I almost forgot, I'm linking this look up for the #Thrift360 Style Challenge on Instagram, which is Military Inspired this week which I'm very excited about! Imperfect Concepts has agreed to giveaway three $20 giftcards to the top 3 voted looks! Be sure to link up! Find out more here!
